The following lessons are based on class handouts, but take advantage of the wonderful
sources online. Here on the web we are not constrained by page limitations and we have access
to a wonderful genealogy reference library.
Before beginning your research, please familiarize yourself with my
Genealogist's Code of Conduct. You will also find links to the National
Genealogical Society's Genealogical Standards on the same page. Please read these pages
carefully and do your best to abide by them. Whether professional researcher or
hobbyist, we are all obligated to maintain the highest standards possible.
Please remember that all web pages are copyrighted. You are not free to copy and distribute
these pages or any linked sites. They are for your personal use only.
Notes on navigation: There is a site map to facilitate
direct entry to the many topics contained within some of the lesson pages. There are navigation
bars at the bottom of each lesson page. The lesson links are arranged in order, and the navigation
bar highlights the current lesson. There are also links to the course home page and a "Back" button. Each
page has many links that take you to another web site; don't forget to use the "Back" button on your browser
to return to this site.
I would like to get feedback from the students. Let me know if you found these pages
helpful. What suggestions do you have?
